JOB TYPE: Full-time, FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE January-April 2022. This is a SEASONAL position, BUT if you are a good fit for our team, we will be looking to offer you a PERMANENT full-time position on staff to grow your skills and gain qualifications to be our Tax Resolution Specialist.
PAY & BENEFITS: Will start at $18-22/hour depending on experience. The right individual selected for our Tax Resolution Specialist offer will be entitled to increased pay and full benefits (paid vacation days, paid sick days, paid holidays, retirement plan with company contribution, medical insurance, vision insurance, and other office perks!) as you expand your skills and qualifications.

AS OUR SEASONAL TAX PREPARER, YOU WILL: • Prepare individual tax returns (Federal and State) from start to finish using Drake Tax software • Review colleagues’ completed tax returns to check for errors or necessary changes • Communicate professionally and promptly with clients (via phone, email, and/or text) to obtain any additional information or documents needed • Keep supervisors abreast of your workflow and status of client cases assigned to you • Maintain high efficiency in organizational skills with ability to multi-task
AS OUR TAX RESOLUTION SPECIALIST, YOU WOULD: • Develop knowledge of income tax and IRS Fresh Start Initiative – Installment Agreement, Offer in Compromise, Penalty Abatement, Currently Not Collectible, etc. • Study for and obtain your Enrolled Agent license (this licenses you to practice before the IRS on behalf of clients) • Review clients’ financial data and determine best resolution options under the IRS Fresh Start Initiative • Collaborate with our Tax Resolution Case Manager in the assembling of client data and documentation and managing client case status • Contact the IRS and State tax departments to obtain tax transcripts and perform compliance checks • Prepare the appropriate forms and documentation to submit to the IRS on clients’ behalf • Communicate with the IRS on clients’ behalf to set up an Installment Agreement, remove penalties, stop a wage garnishment, halt a bank lien, release a tax lien, or other resolution actions needed. • Prepare Federal and related State individual, business (1065, 1120, and 1120-S), and sales tax returns that have not been filed, or amend a Substitute For Return (SFR) filing • Clearly and effectively communicate with clients via phone call, text, email, Zoom, and/or in person on a timely basis
MUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS: • High School diploma • 2+ years hands-on experience in individual income tax preparation within a CPA or EA firm (minimum of 2 full tax seasons) • Adept in Microsoft Word and Excel • Committed to integrity, accuracy, and reliability • Willing to ask questions, receive feedback, and research tax matters that may arise
NICE-TO-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelors’ degree in Accounting • Prior experience with Quickbooks, Drake Tax software, and/or JetPack Workflow • Current Enrolled Agent license with current PTIN and CAF number • Familiar with IRS Fresh Start Initiative program • Able to do tax research regarding IRC sections and regulations • Able to prepare extensions and calculate any tax payments that could be required
