Millie Yang is hands-down the best tax preparer I have ever used. She knows her business and is very pleasant to work with. Her prices are very reasonable. For very selfish reasons, I hope she never retires.

Decided to go to H&R Block because our tax return situation is complicated this year (first year married, same-sex). However, it turns out the real experience is nothing like the TV ads or branding. "You are wasting my time," she told us. "I don't have time to deal with this or you." I really hope that other potential customers don't get treated the way we did today by two CPAs. The person we had an appointment with, Edwin Cauguiran, did not want to take us after we showed up. After we told him we were a legally same-sex couple married in NYC, he immediately began to act in an odd manner, then told us we would have to prepare our taxes with another CPA in the office. To his defense, the reason for changing associates was because his colleague was better versed with NY state taxes. He brought us to his associate, Millie Yang, who proceeded to treat us like we were not human beings. No introduction, no 'why are you here today?', no questions about our situation. Instead she just hammered away on the computer after making copies of our documents. She had the audacity to end the session with trying to sell us on their service to file the taxes, without even understanding why we came in the first place. We wanted to do a comparison with our own at-home preparation to see if H&R Block could really find something better that we may have missed. We tried to explain this to the first CPA, but clearly he was not listening. Millie told us that we were a waste of her time, closed her computer program, then turned around in her chair to ignore us. I was so disturbed by this behavior yet I tried to reason with her, and asked if she was sure there was nothing else we could do. I asked about itemized deductions, but instead she just kept saying "I don't have time to deal with this," over and over until we finally left her office. Location: 567 Golden Gate Ave San Francisco, CA Manager: Kevin Stacy (was at a different office at the time, according to the receptionist)
