Client Reviews of Rodney M. Splond, EA

I was referred to Rodney Splond of Pyramid Financial several years ago by professionals with whom I worked. Mr. Splond handled back-tax issues that I needed to resolve at that time, and he continues to handle my yearly taxes to date. I have recommended Mr. Splond to others who have asked, "Who does your taxes?" I have found Mr. Splond to be highly knowledgeable in his field. His business demeanor is professional, ethical and thorough; I feel confident in his tax preparation and will refer him with no hesitation.

I would not recommend Rodney Splond to handle your taxes. I was going to him for years and trusted him, but that turned out to be an unfortunate mistake on my behalf. He increased his fee compared to the usual fee and claimed he would take care of my tax amendment once the tax season slowed down. He later denied this and I lost both his increased fee cost and the lost income I would have received from the amendment. I decided to walk away at the time and take the loss. I later received a letter from the IRS stating he claimed education credits too many times and it just so happens it was that particular year (when he increased his fee). When doing my taxes that year and he asked about the education credit, I informed him I couldn't remember which credit we claimed and when we claimed it over the years. Instead of double checking, he just claimed whatever worked for him at the moment. I, not knowing he isn't looking through past files, trusted him. Now I am being notified by the IRS I owe $2600. Instead of representing me in an audit with the IRS as his paperwork claims to do or paying the fees he caused from not double checking, he isn't doing anything; in fact he avoided me for a week and wouldn't return my calls until I informed him that I will be filing a 14157 form with the IRS due to misconduct with my taxes. This is just my own experience, but I would not recommend Rodney Splond nor Pyramid Financial Services to do your taxes. Given that I have proof of the above, this is not libel. I wished I was warned prior to doing business with Rodney.
